I designed this clock after the kallhovd board that was often used in the pagan Norwegian home to help keep the evil spirits out of the house and protect the home from harm.
I used typical Vest Agder scrolls and flowers on a black or black-green background.
This Kallhovd clock is painted using JoSonja acrylics with Valdres flowers. It measures 5 7/8” x 24” x ¾”.
This “Strokes of Time” pendulum clock was painted using JoSonja acrylics in the Hallingdal style in 2006. I designed this clock and have several designs for it. It measures 11” x 30” x 3”.
I had this chest for many years and finally decided to paint it with Valdres Flowers with influence of those painted by Peder Aadnes from the Bagn Church in Norway.
The chest size measures 19 x 10 x 12 inches, so the designs would be good for other objects.
I bought this spice cabinet at a sale some years ago and finally painted it in this Telemark style. The design is painted upside down to fit in the curve of the panel. The border design on the frame has the flowers hanging down as well. On the inside of the door I painted a spice chart for easy access when cooking. I hope you'll enjoy painting this if you have such a cabinet or use the designs on other doors or panels.
This is a pedestal bowl, the base is 2 inches high and the inside just one inch deep, so it's easy to paint. I used this flower for the center with cone shapes forming a circle. It is surrounded by typical Hallingdal flowers.
This is a typical Hallingdal design for the cream carafe. I used a basic palette of red, yellow and blue to create the designs.
This 12 inch tine was made by Mike Lusk. I painted it for the 2017 Vesterheim class. It includes a number of different kinds of Os flowers. A striking piece and a great size for storaging treasures.
The packet includes directions, photographs, and line drawings.
This Mangle Tre was made by Mike Lusk. It was a project for my 2017 Vesterheim class. Painted on a black background it incorporates some scrolls and typical flowers of the style. The horse is painted with Smoked Pearl and stippled with Raw Sienna and Brown Earth to be similar to the color of the fjord horse.
The packet includes the directions, photographs and line drawing.
My first reaction to this little container was to paint it with an Os design. I love it's shape and it has so many possibilities. A ring of Os flowers painted around it with a simple design for the top seemed to be just right.
I love this little bean pot and decided to dress it up with elegant Telemark using Rich Gold, Silver and Pearl White with my normal Telemark palette.
This Telemark design is painted on a light background with blue trim. I taught this one at the 2014 San Diego convention. It's such a fun wood piece to paint with a number of designs.
