Hallingdal Pendulum Clock Pattern Packet

This “Strokes of Time” pendulum clock was painted using JoSonja acrylics in the Hallingdal style in 2006.  I designed this clock and have several designs for it.  It measures 11” x 30” x 3”.

Hallingdal, along with Telemark produced the most numerous painters and reached great heights in artistic development.  The painting here is especially connected to the Sata-Baera School in Al, where the first known Norwegian rosemaler, Truge Gunhildgard (born 1699) decorated several interiors.  He was a pioneer and did not create the local style as we know it.  The style stems from the Sata-Baera School and those associated with it.

The Hallingdal design on this clock can be painted on your favorite Hallingdal background color.  Black, black green, dark blue, Teal Green or Spice are good colors.  I incorporated the typical Hallingdal scrolls and some of the different flower forms used in the district.

The packet includes three pages of instruction, three enlarged photographs and the line drawing.
