This adorable little box is turned from poplar and the lid turned from birch or other hardwood limbs when available. Otherwise it's turned with a rounded lid. It's a great hiding place for that special ring, gem or baby tooth.
The wood is so interesting it's nice to use a light stain or just keep it natural, expecially the lid. If it's a turned lid, I usually paint it red with a design.
