Sor-Trondelag Cream Carafe Pattern Packet

The Sor-Trongelag style rosemaling was painted using JoSonja acrylics in 2004.

In the southern part of Trøndelag lies the mountain district of Oppdal.  The most famous painters and woodcarvers practiced their crafts here, as did the Horne family.  Eric Horne (1730-1798) made and painted cabinets in blue or green with white panels and red borders.  They were often decorated with blue marbleizing or blue scrolls tied together with strokes.  Eric’s son, Knot E. Horne (1763-1848) often painted scenery including hunts, horses, ladies and gentlemen.  His wide variety of work included floral designs that I featured on this piece.

The container I had made after seeing many similar used on tables in Norway to hold their commercial containers of sour cream.  We designed this one to fit most of our US sour cream, butter or cottage containers, products of cream.  Theirs did not have a lid, but I thought it would look more interesting and useful this way.

The packet includes three pages of instruction, three enlarged photographs and the line drawing.
