Telemark Tray with Birds

I incorporated two birds in this Telemark tray painted in 2003 using JoSonja acrylics.  The tray measures 18” x 10 5/8” x 2 ¾” which includes short legs.

The Telemark area is in the mountains of southern Norway.  It was culturally rich in music, dance, woodcarving, weaving and rosemaling.  It surpasses other areas in its development, especially as seen in the numbers of talented rosemalers.  Knute Mevesstaul (1785-1862) is one of my favorites and whose style has sparked my interest.

I used the transparent method to paint this tray.  To achieve transparency use Magic Mix, Kleister or Clear Glaze mixed in the paint.

The packet includes three pages of instruction, two enlarged photographs and the line drawing.
