This Telemark tray was painted with a view of a landscape inside. The tray measures 18” x 10 5/8” x 2 ¾” which includes short legs.
In the Telemark area rosemaling was the most prolific and advanced in Norway. There were numerous very fine and skilled painters. The intertwining of scrolls and elegant flowers in asymmetrical designs are graceful and wonderful to look at as well as paint. By using some Telemark elements it created a nice cartouche with scenic mountain view on the inside. Fee free to change the dominant color, red and use values of blue or green for the scrolls and border.
