This tine was painted in 2006 with the Lesja style from Gudbrandsdal using JoSonja acrylics. The small tines measure 8” x 4” x 3 “.
In the northern Gudbrandsdal valley, the acanthus scroll motifs reached their heights. Jakob Bersveinson Klukstad (1713-1773) from Lesja was a great master at carving the acanthus and he painted as well. Three generations from Jakob Klukstad were all good wood carvers and painters. The graceful C and S shaped acanthus branches and jagged leaves flow gracefully from a single scroll or tendril, or sometimes the designs were symmetrical. Sometimes flowers were included and sometimes just the vines. I enjoy painting this style, sometimes just with a monochromatic color scheme.
The packet includes three pages of instructions, 6 enlarged photographs and the line drawing.
