Hallingdal Catch-All Pattern Packet

This Hallingdal catchall was painted on a blue-green background using JoSonja acrylics.  It measures 10 5/8” x 18” x 5”.

I designed this catch-all in reminiscence of other’s I have seen.  It is a handy devise to hold all those little important things it’s hard to find a home for.  The Hallingdal design can be painted on your favorite background color.  Black, black green, dark blue, Teal Green or Spice are good Hallingdal colors.  Use “Rosemaling Styles, Study and Design” which is only available on DVD, for reference when painting.

Hallingdal, along with Telemark produced the most numerous painters and reached great heights in artistic development.  The painting here is especially connected to the Sata-Baera School in Al, where the first known Norwegian rosemaler, Truge Gunhildgard (born 1699) decorated several interiors.  He was a pioneer and did not create the local style as we know it.  The style stems from the Sata-Baera School and those associated with it.  I incorporated scrolls and some of my favorite Hallingdal flower forms in this symmetrical design.

The packet includes three pages of instructions, three enlarged photographs and the line drawing.
