This Vest Agder covered bowl was painted using JoSonja acrylics. The bowl, including lid measure 7 ½” x 5”.
Vest Agder lies in southwestern Norway. The style varies from north to south. The north had more influence from Telemark painters, where in the south there was more influence from the local area around Fjotland, the leading artistic center. A unique style developed here with imported designs, perhaps Dutch. The Vest Agder style is based more on flower baroque than on acanthus baroque. In this style of Vest Agder, there were lots of teardrops used for decoration. They can be found within scrolls and flowers as well as between flower, leaves and stems. I stippled the light colored inside with values of Raw Sienna. It’s a fun style to paint and I hope you’ll enjoy it.
The packet includes two pages of instruction, three enlarged photographs and the line drawing.
