The Rollag stavekirke was painted using JoSonja’s acrylics on a 12” scalloped plate.
Rollag is north of Kongsberg in the Numedal valley. The first know date found for this church is 1425, but it is believed to be much older. The interior has beautiful wall painting. I decided to paint this with a spring feel to it and a red border which was very typical for the area. The Numedal style reflects influence from Telemark yet has characteristics of it’s own. I like the work of Sebjorn Kverndalen (1789-1875) and his Kravik family line of painters.
The packet includes three pages of instruction, three enlarged photographs and the line drawing.
