Door escutcheons are used either side of a door knob. This Telemark design was painted in 2004 using JoSonja acrylics. It measures 3 7/8” x 24 ¼” x 3/8”.
I hope you will enjoy this Telemark design on a black background, however any rosemaling color to suit your décor is encouraged. The shape I designed with memories of iron ones I’d seen on old Norwegian doors. I thought it would be fun to have a different style on each of the doors in one’s house. You could even add a cute name for the room, or announce whose room it is. Enjoy and have fun.
In the Telemark area rosemaling was the most prolific and advanced in Norway. There were numerous very fine and skilled painters. The intertwining of scrolls and elegant flowers in asymmetrical designs are graceful and wonderful to look at as well as paint.
The packet includes three pages of instructions, three enlarged photographs and the line drawing.
