This Telemark cream carafe was painted in 2004 using JoSonja acrylics. The cream carafe measures 5 ¼” in diameter x 7 ½” tall.
This container I had made after seeing many similar used on tables in Norway to hold their commercial containers of sour cream. I had this one made to fit most of our US sour cream, butter or cottage containers, products of cream, thus the name “Cream Carafe” seemed appropriate. Theirs did not have a lid, but I thought it would look be more useful with one.
The landscape is from my many photographs of farms somewhere in Telemark. The goats must be included since they can be seen feeding on many slopes, taken in to milk for their dairy products, which end up in the “cream carafe” on one’s table. I hope you will enjoy painting this fun piece.
The packet includes three pages of instruction, eight enlarged photographs and the line drawing.
